Have you heard of the concept of “clean beauty”?
Clean beauty refers to cosmetic products that are safe, non-toxic, and have transparent labeling of ingredients. However, just because a product is labeled as organic, natural, or green does not necessarily mean it is non-toxic.
The clean beauty trend emerged from a growing awareness among consumers who are increasingly informed and concerned about the health implications and environmental impact of the products they use daily. The cosmetics industry uses a wide range of ingredients, and many consumers want to know which ones are potentially harmful, could cause adverse reactions, and should be avoided.
Skincode, a Swiss cosmetic manufacturer, was one of the pioneers in the clean beauty niche. Long before clean beauty became a trend, Skincode was formulating clean, safe, and effective skincare products, containing everything your skin needs and nothing it doesn’t, since its launch in 1998.
For over 20 years, Skincode has partnered with globally recognized Swiss dermatologists, ingredient experts, and laboratories to incorporate the latest advancements in science, dermatological research, and clean beauty. All Skincode products are formulated according to the highest industry standards and adhere to the strict European Cosmetic Regulations, which prohibit more than 1,300 substances in cosmetic products. Additionally, Skincode has its own strict blacklist of ingredients they believe should not be included in clean, gentle skincare products.
Every jar, bottle, and tube contains a carefully curated selection of powerful, clean skincare ingredients that work in perfect synergy to provide transformative results you can see and feel.
Skincode’s clean beauty products are evaluated at every stage of development to ensure they meet the highest standards for safety and efficacy. Each product is rigorously tested to be suitable even for the most sensitive skin. All products are dermatologically tested, with many also undergoing ophthalmological testing and clinical trials.
This commitment to clean beauty extends to packaging, with a focus on safety and transparency. From sustainable ingredient sourcing to environmentally friendly packaging materials, Skincode reinforces its clean beauty commitment by reducing wasteful plastic use and introducing 100% recyclable packaging for all products. The same formulas you know and love now come in a fresh, sustainable look.
As an initial step, Skincode has begun producing its Essentials range without plastic spatulas, plastic seals, paper leaflets, and plastic wrapping around the box. Instead, jar products are securely sealed with a recyclable aluminum seal and feature a QR code on the box that can be scanned from any smart device to access product information in multiple languages. Additionally, all glass jars, cardboard boxes, and inserts are 100% recyclable, using paper and cardboard from sustainably managed forests (FSC certified).
What’s next? Skincode continually evaluates new packaging solutions, with a goal to transition to more sustainable materials like glass and fully recyclable plastic by 2030 for all collections.
